Community Guidelines
The Intelligent Academic™ is a space for thoughtful, respectful conversation among educators, researchers, and anyone interested in the responsible use of AI in higher education.
I believe that the best ideas emerge from open discussion, and I want this publication to be a place where you feel comfortable sharing your experiences, asking questions, and even respectfully disagreeing.
To keep this space productive and welcoming, I ask that all participants observe the following guidelines.
Be Respectful. Treat every commenter as a colleague. Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks are not. Critique ideas, not people.
Be Constructive. When you disagree with a claim or a recommendation, explain why. Share your own experience, point to evidence, or offer an alternative perspective. Comments that add to the conversation are always valued.
Be Honest. If you are sharing a personal experience, be genuine. If you are citing research or data, provide a source or link when possible. Accuracy matters in this community.
Assume Good Faith. AI in academia is a topic that can generate strong opinions. Before responding to a comment that frustrates you, take a moment to consider that the other person may be coming from a different disciplinary context, institutional culture, or level of experience with AI.
Stay On Topic. Comments should be relevant to the post or the broader themes of the publication. Self-promotion, spam, and off-topic content will be removed.
Respect Privacy. Do not share private information about students, colleagues, or institutions without their consent.
Respect Authorship. If you use content from the site, please acknowledge the author (for example, “Source: Billy Oglesby at The Intelligent Academic™ [LINK]”).
I reserve the right to remove comments that violate these guidelines and to restrict access for repeat offenders. My goal is not to police conversation, but to protect the quality of this community so that it remains a place worth visiting.
Thank you for being part of The Intelligent Academic™ community!
